This workshop begins with pranayama and a short slow flow practice to ground the body and settle the mind. We'll then have an open discussion about meditation, and learn a specific style of meditation called Japa Meditation, where you use mala beads, mantras, and affirmations to create the positive spiritual energy known as ‘japa.’ To close we will incorporate all we have learned with a guided, japa meditation!

A Mindful Evening: Yoga + Tea for Immunity

Slowing down is something we all deserve to enjoy, as it's an excellent way to invite more intention, good health and mindfulness into our daily lives. Join Janelle at Cure for a mindful evening with herbal tea education and a yoga practice where you’ll learn about specific medicinal herbs to help boost your immune system, and create your own tea blend to sip on throughout the class. 

This workshop will start by learning about the healing properties of the herbs available, then, with all that information, you will mindfully choose which herbs to use to craft your own special tea blend to suit your needs that day. Once tea is made, we will enjoy a simple, grounding meditation followed by a slow flow yoga practice, which will offer little mindfulness breaks to stop, sip your tea and breath deeply. 

After the workshop, you will be sent home with a pre-made tea blend to enjoy in the comfort of your own healing space, but we will also have bulk herbs for sale at the workshop should you wish to bring home extra herbs that you tried and loved. We encourage you to bring your own tea ball/infuser and your favorite mug, but if you do not own one we will have some for you to use.

*Please note that space is limited so that everyone’s health is respected. This workshop will be held outdoors and socially distanced.

Yoga + Acupuncture to Reduce Stress

Join Janelle for a blissful and calming yoga class followed by savasana with acupuncture by Kate Macmillan from Blue Thistle Acupuncture. A slow and grounding practice will prepare the body for savasana where Kate will apply acupuncture to further reduce stress and bring ease into the body and mind. The ear points will be coupled with the acupuncture point "Yin Tang" which has the indication of calming the spirit. As an option, students will be offered an "ear seed" or "ear pellet" which adheres to the ear and can stay on for 3-5 days. Benefits of acupuncture include stress relief, pain reduction, reduced anxiety, calming the nervous system and overall relaxation.

Candlelight Restorative Ropes + Slings Workshop

End your week with a restorative, candlelight practice with the ropes + slings to ease into your weekend by letting go of physical and energetic stress in body and mind. In this workshop we will use the support of ropes + slings to explore more supported and restorative shapes to slowly unwind tension and melt into ease to create space in the body and stillness in the mind. You will leave this workshop with a new sense of calm and ease, ready to take on your weekend from a place of peace and stillness within.
 
We recommend that you take at least one Introduction to Ropes + Slings class prior to this workshop.

Do you have an interest in yoga but want to learn the basics before stepping into a group class? In this introductory series we will cover the basics of yoga philosophy, foundational postures (asana) with focus on safe alignment, and breath exercises (pranayama). Each session will build upon the skills learned in the last and end with a closing meditation and time for questions.
 

Come find how yoga is so much more than stretching or a workout, and how to modify the postures to meet your needs in a group class. A simple take home practice is included to keep you progressing in between sessions. At completion you will have the knowledge to confidently join weekly classes on our schedule.

$90 tuition includes:

4 1.5-hour sessions (Sundays March 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th)

Sun Salutation Breakdown

Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) where you flow from one posture to the next with the breath, are practiced in many yoga classes, however we rarely ever get a chance to slow down and look at each posture individually. In this workshop, we will break down the sun salutation and explore each posture in depth looking at proper alignment to gain a deeper understanding of each movement to encourage safety, stability and grace in your practice.

We will practice tadasana, uttanasana, ardha uttanasana, plank, chaturunga dandasana, cobra, upward facing dog, downward facing dog, jumping forward and jumping back to help create a strong foundation of the basics that will continue to support your practice. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or brand new to yoga, this workshop is for you! You will leave with a strong understanding of each posture, allowing you to find comfort and sustainability in your practice.

The New Moon marks the beginning and ending of each lunar cycle, signifying a pause in the universe. Join us for 75 min of magic making as students are guided through a meditation designed to clarify intentions, and harness the energy of this pause within the lunar cycle to create the life of your dreams.

We’ll talk in more detail about the New Moon, and how to use that energy with specific intention setting and manifestation. Following the meditation, Janelle will lead you through a Moon salutation flow along to Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ album!

Yoga of Hope- Donation Based Class

"Every day, 700 children get diagnosed with cancer globally, 35% do not survive their diagnoses. Yoga of Hope is a global charity event with the purpose of raising awareness and funds to combat childhood cancer."

This is an open level vinyasa, donation based class led by Janelle Taylor. When you practice with Janelle on November 18th you will be flowing with yogis at Yoga of Hope events across the globe to raise money, hope, love, and courage in support of a world free from childhood cancer.

All funds collected will be donated to BarnCancer Fonden's Yoga of Hope charity.

Take your yoga off the mat and connect with the serenity of nature at Mianus River Gorge in Stamford, CT.

Janelle will be co-teaching this amazing weekend adventure with Linda Dreher, owner and teacher at Mantra.

We'll begin our fall outing with an outdoor warm-up of breath work and asana in a peaceful, wooded setting. From there we'll embark on our 4.5-mile hike, with rolling hills, moss covered stones and beautiful river views. Close to the halfway point, we’ll take a break at Havemeyer Falls for some stretching and a short meditation.

We'll close our afternoon with some poses to cool us down and ease the transition back to the hustle and bustle.

(healthy snacks, water, hand wipes and natural insect repellent will be provided, just bring your sense of adventure and wonder!)

Intro to Mala Beads & Japa Meditation

You’ve seen them in yoga studios. You’ve seen them worn as spiritual jewelry. Do you want to learn more about these beautiful and mysterious beads? Do you want to know how to use them and how they help with meditation?

Each mala necklace contains a set number of beads (usually 108) representing spiritual identity and connection with the universe. In meditation the idea is to move one bead at a time, using each movement as an opportunity to focus on a breath or mantra. This process creates positive spiritual energy – known as ‘japa.’

Open your body and restore your soul with this blissful 2-hour workshop, led by Janelle at Mantra! Our workshop will begin with a slow flow yoga practice, warming the body
and calming the mind in preparation to the restorative yin practice to follow.

Yin yoga is a series of postures in which the body is fully supported and the
postures are held much longer than in a traditional yoga class, allowing your
muscles to relax and lengthen safely, without any stress or strain.

Class will be accompanied by soothing music and a special blend of essential
oils will be diffused throughout class.

MindFull Gathering is a day intended to bring like-minded people together, to celebrate the beauty of living a mindful, holistic lifestyle. "Together, we can build a conscious community through yoga, healing arts, conscious vendors, food & more, right in the heart of Stamford."
